Introduction

In previous tutorials (and chapters), we have often referred to functions as a type of relationship between the independent and dependent variables. In one of those tutorials, we also explained that an independent variable must have in correspondence a single dependent variable so that the relationship between the two variables can be considered as a function. Now, it is finally the moment to describe in more detail what a function represents and to have an entire chapter focused exclusively on this important concept of algebra.
